IllumiLib Memorize Quick Start

1. Adding Text

Click + Add Text on the Library page. Enter a title, select a category (Bible, Poetry, Speeches, or create your own), and paste your text. Use forward slashes / or backslashes \ to define section breaks (e.g., John 3:16 / For God so loved the world… / that He gave His only begotten Son). Adjust Max Recording Duration based on your speaking speed, and use Group Size to control how many sections you study at once.

2. Learn the Rhythm (Listen)

Click the Listen button on the Study workbench to hear the section read aloud using Text-to-Speech.

3. Study Modes

Practice Mode: Text is fully visible. Click the microphone and recite aloud. Your speech is compared word-by-word with highlights:

  • Green: Correctly spoken words
  • Red Strikethrough: Missed or skipped words
  • Amber: Substituted or extra words

First Letter Mode: Shows only the first letter of each word. Use this as an intermediate challenge between Practice and Test modes.

Test Mode: Text is hidden — recite purely from memory. Click the Hint (eye icon) to reveal the first letter of each word. When you complete a section with 85%+ accuracy, it's marked as Mastered.

💡 Recording Tips: Speak clearly and at a natural pace. The system learns from your target text. Click any red (missed) word to hear the correct pronunciation.

4. Bible Scripture Recognition

For Bible texts, the app recognizes special formats: Book names with leading numbers (e.g., 1 John → "First John"), and verse ranges (e.g., 1:8-9 can be spoken as "one eight to nine," "one eight through nine," or "one eight and nine").

5. Sync Across Devices

My Cross Walk requires signing in with your Google account. Texts and progress are saved in your browser first, so you can study without internet. Use the sync button at the top of any screen to sync with your other devices: a green check means everything is synced, orange arrows mean changes are waiting.

6. Backup

Use Backup and Restore in the settings menu on the My Cross Walk main screen to save everything (Memorize, Prayer and Bible Reading) to one file, or to restore from a backup. Restoring adds to what is already in the app rather than replacing it.
